| Camp Lucy offers an extensive variety of event space to accommodate anything from an intimate party to larger events |
The Fairy Godmothers recently found themselves out in Dripping Springs when they were invited to take a tour on the grounds of Camp Lucy to hear and experience more about this whimsical venue. We were in awe of the stunning grounds, the charming cottage, the breath taking views and how everywhere you looked was another piece of marvelous architecture with an unusual story behind it.
One of the first buildings to catch our eye was the dramatic open pavilion situated on the edge of a hillside. No doubt a magnificent space on it’s own, we soon learned there was more to it than just the massive, rare ironwood timbers inside. The pavilion was originally built as a French Colonial church in Vietnam sometime in the 1930’s and roofed with original 1920s Ludowici tiles rescued from the Bexar County Courthouse when it's own roof was being replaced.

The impressive history only served to inspire us as we talked of the endless possibilities from hosting a rehearsal dinner underneath the intricately carved wooden beams of the pavilion. The terrace overlooking the sweeping hill country views would make an unforgettable ceremony site as couples meet at the altar just under the dramatic stone arch. Later guests would mingle at a cocktail reception that spilled out into the Old World brick-paved courtyard bordering one side of the pavilion. The Great Lawn just past that would beckon guests to enjoy the evening weather if one were to set up outdoor games for all to enjoy during the reception.
Next, we made our way into their most recent addition, the
majestic events hall which can hold up to 400 people. Guests have the option to mingle along the wrap around front porch while relaxing in the groups of rustic rocking chairs. Inside, the oversized stone fireplace gives off a cozy feeling and serves as an additional space to incorporate your event design.

Just off of the Events hall is the most amazing story yet, the
French Colonial Chapel. This building
was also brought back from Vietnam and meticulously reassembled here in
Dripping Springs, Texas. The outside bell
tower was built by hand using stones harvested from Camp Lucy property. Both
the intimate feeling inside the historic chapel or the outdoor steps leading to
the bell tower would make for a romantic ceremony backdrop.

The Groom's Quarters are conveniently nestled in between the Main Events Hall and the Open Pavilion. While you spend your morning preparing for your big day, know that your groom and his entourage are safely gathered here enjoying the game on a flat screen or hanging out on their private outdoor deck overlooking Onion Creek.

| Bridal Suite Cottage |
Our favorite stop on this property was the Bridal Suite. This charming cottage immediately gives you the sense you have stepped inside a spa resort. With multiple rooms and doors lined with full length mirrors on both side, this suite gives you plenty of space to comfortably move around as you and your ladies dress to impress. To further improve your beauty routine on that special day, the bridal cottage has hanging chandeliers in each room paired with lots of natural light flooding the rooms through the many windows and french doors.
So much to see and still more yet to come. We can't wait to see what other intriguing stories the owner, Whit Hanks, will later tell as he continues improvements on this storybook venue. There is more history than we can tell in one blog post so spend some
