Snowmass: Viceroy Hotel, Resort, and Residences

Pin It You want the "creme de la creme"?  Viceroy Hotel has it all!  From the moment you step inside, it exudes luxury.

The night we arrived in Snowmass, we had cocktails in the swanky Viceroy bar, and the night before we left, we were treated to a scrumptious dinner in the hotel restaurant Eight K.

The rooms at the Viceroy are modern, but still very warm and inviting.  They have several different room configurations for you to choose from: Studio, One bedroom, One bedroom with a den, and 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms.  They have gourmet kitchens with black granite countertops, premium appliances as well as designer-selected tableware, glassware, flatware and cooking tools.  The rooms even have a washer/dryer (except the Studio.)

What about event space?  They have a 5,600 sq. ft. ballroom with a connected terrace, a 4,000 sq. ft. terrace by the pool, and the gorgeous lawn that you see pictured here with a few chairs for a mock ceremony. (2nd image from top)

Since I mentioned the pool, the cabanas are appointed with king size mattresses as the "cushion" for the lounge!  Off the pool area is a fire pit with sofas and seating as well as some outdoor spin bikes with views of the mountains. (3rd image from top)

As if all of that isn't enough, if you book your wedding at the Viceroy, you'll receive a complimentary honeymoon to another one of their properties, too!  Leave your wedding planner behind to wrap up the details while you go enjoy some quality time with your new spouse!

Snowmass: Moon Run Ranch

Moon Run Ranch is like a step into the past.  It's a real working ranch that allows private events.  The pastures are lush and well maintained.  Pristine flower beds and a waterfall add to the beauty of the grounds surrounding the massive rustic log barn.

You'll have to check out their website for more images as we made a bit of a mess of the place during a "Designers Challenge."  The team at Blazing Adventures loaded us up in Jeeps and took us all over the mountainside to collect items for the challenge.  We were required to incorporate splatter paint duct tape, some really awful brightly colored mesh ribbon, a paper plate, and one other mystery object into our centerpieces that otherwise consisted of things we collected on the mountainside (rocks, tree bark, flowers, etc.)  We were surprised to see all of the ideas come to life given the limited resources and time constraints, but no two were alike.  That being said, we also didn't have time to get any great pictures of the facilities so check out their site.

Snowmass: Lynn Britt Cabin

Pin It When it's all about a spectacular mountain location, this lovely, rustic log cabin near the top of the Burlingame lift on Snowmass is THE place. The cozy cabin is open for lunch, private snowcat dinner rides, and private functions in the winter, and once summer arrives, options are expanded and the cabin as well as the adjacent meadow are available for private groups from 20 to 200. Nestled among towering aspen trees and with endless mountain views, the cabin itself can accommodate up to 60 guests.  The views from Lynn Britt are truly breathtaking, and our pictures do not convey the expansive panorama from the side of the mountain.  Without the winter activity, the space is serene - the perfect hidden gem location for a summer wedding.
If you have your sights set elsewhere in the Snowmass area for your wedding ceremony and reception, this place would be a perfect respite to share with your closest family and friends for an unforgettable rehearsal dinner, too.

The catering staff at ASC Catering did a fabulous job with brunch! From the Aspen pedestals and food label "stanchions" to the mouthwatering plank salmon, they made sure it was all perfect.

Snowmass: Elk Camp

Pin It Located in the popular Elk Camp area, Elk Camp, is at the top of the Gondola and the bottom of Elk Camp lift with space enough to host a large wedding and reception. As it is currently configured, there is indoor seating for up to 250 guests, another 150 seats are available outside on the expansive decks. A buyout of the restaurant would provide you with endless options and can accommodate up to 450. They even have an adorable space downstairs called "The Tent" that could be utilized for on-site childcare.
Elk Camp adds a new dimension to the on-mountain experience at Snowmass.

Snowmass: The Crestwood - A Condominium Hotel

Are you still on the fence about taking your guests to Snowmass, Colorado for a destination wedding?  Do you think it would just be too hard on the families with kids?  You need to know about The Crestwood
They have units from 672 square feet to 2,020 square feet and sleep from 4-10 people each.  Each unit has a gas fireplace in the living room, fully equipped kitchen, dining seating, cable TV and high speed wireless internet. You will enjoy a private balcony with a gas BBQ grill and outdoor seating furniture. All of the condos also provide you with a bathroom for every bedroom which means that even the bridal party shouldn't have trouble getting ready if they are staying here!
I think one of my favorite amenities at this property is their shopping service.  You can give them a list of the items you want, and they'll go to the grocery store or liquor store for you and stock your condo with the items you request; you pay for the grocery bill, but the service is included.  Even families with food allergies can rest assured that they can prepare allergen-free meals in their condo if they wish without the difficulties that often come with eating out three times daily.

Snowmass: The Westin

After a long day, we retreated to The Westin for dinner and dessert in a suite with a grand balcony with views of the mountains and most of Snowmass.  It would be the perfect place for a hospitality suite for your family and friends.
Adjacent to The Westin is a fun and funky sister hotel, Wildwood, with some unexpected retro decor and bar lounge areas.
All said and done, we enjoyed a glass of wine in the Westin bar along the incredibly long fireplace wall.  We didn't want to leave!

Snowmass: Woody Creek Distillers

Fabulous FG Friday...Snowmass style!
Woody Creek Distillers is still very new.  Their space is a beautiful state-of-the-art facility and would be a great place for a welcome cocktail party, a small rehearsal dinner, or just a fun wedding party outing during a guys or girls trip to the Snowmass area.
What would Woody Creek Distillers call their vodka martini?
A Woody.
When you order a "dirty martini", they will ask you, "Do you want a Little Woody or a Big Woody?"  If your face isn't flushed immediately as your friends all stare with anticipation, then you probably actually read the menu and know that a Big Woody is a double.

The Fairy Godmother Dirty Martini

  • 6 parts vodka
  • generous 1 part olive juice
  • scant 1 part dry vermouth
  • Shake vigorously with ice
  • Garnish with a large olive stuffed with whatever makes you happy!  (I've been enjoying fresh herbed goat cheese in mine recently, but jalapeno and blue cheese have long been a favorite.)

Happy Friday!

Snowmass: Rock Bottom Ranch and ACES

Is being green or charitable at the top of your priority list?  We have a fabulous destination wedding venue for you that has multiple options for ceremony and reception locations for up to 150 guests.  Rock Bottom Ranch, a part of Aspen Center for Environmental Studies between Basalt and Carbondale, CO, is a one of a kind place with some very unique (and adventurous) options.
ACES (Aspen Center for Environmental Studies) focuses on sustainable agriculture, teach environmental education, and demonstrate that grazing pastures and wildlands can coexist harmoniously. They are pleased to open the ranch to special events that support their mission of sustainability and stewardship of the land.
You will encounter a multitude of animals throughout the Ranch - goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and rabbits to name a few.
What are your venue options?  There's a gorgeous meadow with weeping willows and views of the mountains, a pavilion that is magnificent dressed in twinkle lights (and still maintains a mountain-view), and my personal favorite is a small island with a couple of trees (pictured at the top) for a ceremony still within the view of the mountains.
Possibly one of the most fun elements of this particular venue is the ability to raft in to the river at the back of the property or to use a hay ride to transport your guests in (potentially from rafting.)  Blazing Adventures was truly the best adventure and transportation company that we could have imagined for the many activities we experienced.  Their service and expertise were unparalleled. (Wait until we share our Jeeping experience with them for the Designers Challenge!)
The summer menu that was deliciously satisfying was provided by Conundrum Catering.  (Among the items not pictured were an entree of tantalizing Grand Marnier glazed salmon and a batch of fresh chocolate chip cookies that were passed as we were leaving!)
To top it all off, they have an amazing children's program, so if you are having a kid-friendly event, they can entertain and educate your little ones in a fun hands-on environment.
