Mad Science Birthday Party

Science + Party = Amazing Fun

As the mad scientist, Mad Maggie, was setting up, guests arrived and were prepped for the lab with personalized lab coats and goggles.  Diet Coke + Mentos in the backyard made for additional entertainment until the real mad science show began.  Mad Maggie put on an amazing interactive show that the kids and adults alike loved!  The Experimentation Station featured petri dishes and "make your own" macaroni and cheese experiment elements.  (Sauteed leeks, sauteed mushrooms, broccoli, chives, bacon, chicken, pepper, and the kids favorite: colored milk)  Celery stalks were in 4 glasses of colored water to see the "drinking straws" that they use to move the water through the plants.  Cream soda and water bottles received cute printable wrappers and flagged straws.  Favors included science themed cookies, slime they made with Mad Maggie, a test tube of insta-snow with directions attached, and of course their lab coats and goggles.

Lakeway Resort & Spa Summer Wedding!

Jeni and Brian are an awesome couple, and we are so glad we got to spend the day with them and their crazy friends for their Austin wedding. They were a gorgeous couple that knew how to have fun! The day started off at Lakeway Resort's beautiful poolside and ended with a mad dash through sparkler wielding guests (this is always tricky after a few hours of drinking - handing everyone fire and asking them to wave it toward the celebrated newlyweds is scary!) It was truly memorable, and everyone gave the couple an event to remember.

Photographer: Blue Eye Photo
Venue: Lakeway Resort and Spa
Coordinator: Megan Breen from Your Very Own Fairy Godmother
Cakes: Simon Lee Bakery
DJ: Marvin Crues from Mobile Music Pro
Lighting: Ilios Lighting
Photo Booth: Party Booth
Officiant: Jim Gentil

Thank you, Troy of Blue Eye Photography, for the blog entry and images below!

105 degrees never looked so good!

The crew posing for a picture at the pool (Lakeway has an awesome multi level pool that many of the wedding party and guests took advantage of early in the day)

A little prep shot of Jeni working on her makeup.

Brian had to grab a few things from Jeni’s room before getting ready so Jeni hid behind the curtains. It was too cute not to capture!

(16 more photos after the jump)

Diva eyelashes were the must-have item for the bridesmaids.

The dashing couple.

I know this isn’t the greatest photo, but I love Brian’s expression while his groomsmen jump out of the frame.

Their cakes looked fab!

A detail shot of Jeni’s awesome dress and her father leading her down the aisle.

Rings!

The Vistas Ballroom looked awesome as usual.

First dance…

There was quite the scuffle for the bouquet…

Party time!

I Do...Rain or Shine

Post by Martha & Dawn:
This past Saturday was full of adventure. Everything was ready to go for a beautiful outdoor wedding at Austin 71.
All of our vendors arrived on time, the ceremony site was perfect, the reception was beautiful, the food warm and delicious, the band ready to go, the cake was set, and most of the guests arrived on time when all of the sudden it started to drizzle just a few minutes before the ceremony!
Everyone checked the forecast a thousand times (including our boss, Dawn, who was supposed to have a quiet night at home with her son at home), and no precipitation was supposed to be there. What do you do?
Well, we’ve learned that attitude is everything and just have to say that everyone involved in this wedding kept a wonderful attitude to make this work.
A big thank you to RadioStar and Kurant Events for moving their entire equipment setups to a better place (in the same venue of course) to make sure nothing got ruined and to accommodate the guests. Ann at Austin 71 was so easy to work with and helped make the entire process that much easier.
Also, thank you to the DJs: Penguin Entertainment, Dexter and Complete Music who we called during the ceremony just in case RadioStar was unable to play because of the weather. Fortunately for the couple and the guests, RadioStar went above and beyond to make sure they were able to play. Everyone absolutely LOVED them! What a treat to have something different when it comes to wedding music.
Here is a list of the amazing vendors that made the wedding perfect:
What a day! We will never forget it, and we wish the bride and groom a life full of happiness! Kelly and Martha were truly Fairy Godmothers this weekend! With crazy weather, they were on top of everything!
