Alex + Drew - UT Austin Summer Wedding

This June, Your Very Own Fairy Godmother Wedding & Events had the joy of planning Alex and Drew’s fabulous UT Austin Summer Wedding. Everything from the bridesmaids burnt-orange-inspired pale peach dresses, to the whimsical cake from Sweet Treets Bakery, to the grooms Longhorn buttons were perfectly planned to reflect the couple’s shared love of Disney, UTexas Pride, and each other. This fun, fantastic theme kept the entire bridal party and their guests smiling all night long.

The joy and love overcame the summer heat in the beautiful AT&T Conference Center courtyard as the groom became overwhelmed by emotion at the sight of his bride.
We love this great reaction shot that photographer Tyler Schmitt of The Mill Photography Studio captured when the groom shocked the bride with a surprise wedding serenade, inspired by the movie Love, Actually.

Finally, the newlyweds and their family and friends retired to the grand ballroom to eat, drink, and dance the night away in celebration of Alex and Drew’s timeless love.

Real Weddings: Katie + Nick

You see it in the movies all the time. A pretty girl attends a wedding as a single guest, hoping that maybe there would be a handsome and available guy there to sweep her off her feet and dance the night away. Well, not only was this how Katie and Nick met but they soon became each other’s happily ever after and no surprise to those who know them well. Katie has been nothing but smiles from her engagement pictures around Austin to their pedicab exit from their fairy tale wedding at the historic Chateau Bellvue and Josh with AzulOx Photography has been around to capture it all!  I love the tenderness and the spunk that you can see in each of these lovely images.

Even though they call Seattle home now, they met while in Austin. When Nick found out he needed to move for work they created a “bucket list” of things to do in Austin. Little did Katie know his bucket list included a proposal off the iconic Austin 360 bridge. Katie began the next chapter, planning her Fairy tale Wedding!

One of my favorite things to do with my brides is talk about who they are, how they met, and incorporate their personalities into their wedding day. It’s the easiest way to leave your guests talking about your event long after the night is done. For Katie and Nick they incorporated their fairytale story in the details like their table and seating arrangements.

Each guest found their name listed under the name of a city that held some special meaning for Katie and Nick and at the table a picture and a story to tell them why.

Nick loves forest green and Katie wanted lots of purple. I love how the talented floral team from Stems Floral Design pulled together these romantic designs with a just-picked-from-the-garden look.

In addition to the traditional bride and groom’s cake, their dessert table boasted some of the couple’s favorite treats from Sweet Treets Bakery including lavender decorated lemon bars, cannolis and cookies.

Even their place settings had a little bag of lavender meant to share a little piece of something special from Nick and Katie’s home.

Special Thanks to our amazing vendor team for this fairy tale wedding!

Real Wedding: Kristi + Jon

We are in love with the elegant jeweled tones Kristi and Jon brought into their wedding day! The peacock inspiration was tastefully brought out in everything from the floral design, the linens, the place settings and the lighting to really accessorize the sleek and modern space inside the beautiful W Austin Hotel.

Kristi was an absolute joy to be around from start to finish of her Big Day!  Photographer Lisa Woods did an amazing job capturing her bubbly personality throughout the day and we are excited to share her images with you here!  Thank you to all the wonderful vendors who helped to pull off a beautiful wedding!

Kristi was always smiling!  Especially when her dad came to visit her in the Bridal Suite as she was preparing to head to the ceremony. He acted shocked that he was expected to be showered and dressed already.  Loved how "Real" that moment was!

Cynthia's Manhattan Limousines kept the guys entertained as the girls literally stopped traffic in the 2nd Street District of Downtown Austin just outside the W Austin Hotel.

ILD brought the room to life  as they did an amazing job incorporating the couple's theme into their lighting design!
Penguin Entertainment kept the crowd moving all night long!
Treating their guests to a sweet late night snack of homemade donuts was just one of the personal touches!

Real Wedding: Alli + Brandon - The Flowers

You really need to enlarge this to fully understand the magnitude of the gorgeous flowers created by STEMS Floral Design for Alli + Brandon's June wedding.  Descriptions follow...
Ceremony Altar:
Floating candles in cylinder vases, white hydrangeas, yellow tulips, and white phalaenopsis orchids will spill off the ledges behind the altar. Lucite risers are used to create height on either side of the stain glass cross.  Votive candles are scattered on the risers of the altar stage.
Lining the aisle are yellow tulips at the base of each pew reaching up out of the rose petals.
Bride’s Bouquet:
The bridal bouquet is a simple, naturally-shaped bouquet of white tulips, white lily of the valley, white stock flowers and ivory garden roses wrapped in ivory ribbon with the stems showing.
The Reception:
In front of the entrance to the ballroom, the guest book table will have cylinder vases lining the center of the long table with white tulips and the letters L-O-V-E spelled out in yellow buttons and propped up in front of the tulips.
At the entrance to the grand ballroom, just beyond the guest book table, tulips hang from the top of the door so guests walk underneath them.
The tall centerpieces consist of a fluted trumpet vase overflowing with white phalaenopsis orchids, yellow tulips, yellow garden roses and white hydrangeas. They are surrounded by tall and short votives.
Some of the centerpieces are crystal candelabras with the base covered in white hydrangea “clouds” and large white callas and yellow tulips twisting up the center in different directions with a single phalaenopsis orchid bloom on each cluster. Tall and short votives surround.
The low centerpieces are square vases wrapped in ivory fabric with a black ribbon band and overflowing with white hydrangeas, yellow tulips, white phalaenopsis orchids, and yellow garden roses. They are surrounded by tall and short votives.
Additional white square vases with a black ribbon around it are filled with yellow tulips for cocktail tables.
Initials covered in yellow button flowers greet guests at the church on the entry doors and later hang from the bride + groom's reception chairs.

Mad Science Birthday Party

Science + Party = Amazing Fun

As the mad scientist, Mad Maggie, was setting up, guests arrived and were prepped for the lab with personalized lab coats and goggles.  Diet Coke + Mentos in the backyard made for additional entertainment until the real mad science show began.  Mad Maggie put on an amazing interactive show that the kids and adults alike loved!  The Experimentation Station featured petri dishes and "make your own" macaroni and cheese experiment elements.  (Sauteed leeks, sauteed mushrooms, broccoli, chives, bacon, chicken, pepper, and the kids favorite: colored milk)  Celery stalks were in 4 glasses of colored water to see the "drinking straws" that they use to move the water through the plants.  Cream soda and water bottles received cute printable wrappers and flagged straws.  Favors included science themed cookies, slime they made with Mad Maggie, a test tube of insta-snow with directions attached, and of course their lab coats and goggles.
