Mint Julep
It may sound silly, but good crushed ice makes a huge difference in a mint julep (as does the quality of bourbon, of course.) We like to buy our ice the morning of the races at Sonic Drive-In. Yes, really.
Bourbon
Simple Syrup muddled with mint leaves (1 part sugar & 1 part water heated until dissolved, add mint leaves, muddle, store in refrigerator)
Fresh mint for serving
crushed ice
Time for Derby party hats, heels, and Millionaire Row!
